Let’s not beat around the bush: cancer treatments are tough. If you’re going through chemotherapy and/or radiation, you know how it goes.
Side effects may include nausea and vomiting, fatigue, and skin redness, fragility, and inflammation. You may go through hair thinning or hair loss, and your fingernails may get weak and break more often.
Some patients lose their eyebrows and eyelashes too, and may suffer with skin that looks dull and flaky. Nerves in the hands and feet may tingle, hurt, or become numb, and you may have to deal with mouth sores.

Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center Launches “Simply Beautiful”
Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center is a non-profit organization that provides programs and services for anyone impacted by cancer to help ease the burden of the cancer experience. They are launching a new skin care program called SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL to help cancer patients learn more about safe and effective skin care, makeup and hair loss.
At CV Skinlabs, we support Waterford Place’s new program to help spread the word about how medical treatments like chemotherapy and radiation can affect skin, and how patients can take steps to help skin better tolerate these treatments.
During SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL presentations, estheticians will be using CV Skinlabs as examples of safe and effective products, and to help participants to experience more comfortable, rejuvenated skin.
Why this program? Waterford Place saw many patients experiencing unnecessary pain and complications because they were trying to address treatment-related side effects with products and ingredients that ended up doing more harm than good.
One thing we at CV Skinlabs know is that many standard skin care products contain harsh and potentially toxic ingredients that make fragile, sensitive skin worse rather than better. It’s why we formulated our CV Skinlabs products so carefully, to be sure they would be safe and soothing and effective for medically treated skin. Dry, itchy, and sensitive skin are some of the changes a patient may experience when going through cancer treatment.

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL will teach cancer patients about safe skin care, as well as how to apply makeup, wigs and hair coverings using a minimalistic approach. Oncology skin care programs include skin care consultations and oncology facials with esthetician, Geralyn O’Brien, as well as cosmetology services by medical hair loss specialist, Jenny Burns.
